Acupuncture care that starts with listening.

Pain, muscle tension and ongoing discomfort can affect how you move, work, sleep and enjoy everyday life. When you're exploring options to help manage your symptoms, you deserve clear information and care that considers your individual needs.

At KNFChiro, our Registered Acupuncturist, Jing Luo, takes a personalized approach to acupuncture. She considers your concerns, health history and goals when determining whether treatment may be appropriate for you.

You don't need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. We'll help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Acupuncture appointments are available Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What brings people to acupuncture?

People explore acupuncture for a variety of reasons, particularly when pain or muscle tension starts interfering with everyday life.

Depending on the concern, people may consider acupuncture for:

  • Neck, shoulder and back discomfort

  • Certain types of musculoskeletal pain

  • Persistent muscle tension

  • Pain associated with physical activity or injury

  • Other symptoms where acupuncture may be an appropriate option

Acupuncture isn't a guaranteed solution, and the evidence for its effectiveness varies by condition. Whether it's suitable for you depends on your circumstances, symptoms and health history. Jing can discuss the potential benefits and limitations of treatment in relation to your concerns.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture involves inserting fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body. Point selection and treatment approach depend on the individual and the goals of care.

Acupuncture points may be chosen near the area where you experience symptoms or at more distant locations on the body. This means treatment doesn't always involve placing needles directly where you feel discomfort.

There isn't one approach that works for everyone. Your concerns, preferences and response to treatment help inform decisions about your care.

Frequently asked questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Experiences vary. You may notice a brief sensation when a needle is inserted or sensations such as tingling, pressure or a dull ache during treatment. Let Jing know if you're uncomfortable or have concerns so she can respond appropriately.

How many acupuncture appointments will I need?

There isn't one schedule that suits everyone. The number of appointments depends on your concerns, how long you've been experiencing symptoms and how you respond to treatment. You can discuss expectations with Jing and reassess whether treatment is helping as you go.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture has potential risks as well as possible benefits. Your practitioner should review relevant health information, explain the proposed treatment and use appropriate sterile, single-use needles. Share any medical conditions, medications, pregnancy or other relevant circumstances before treatment so your suitability can be assessed.

Can acupuncture be combined with chiropractic care or massage therapy?

Depending on your needs, acupuncture may be considered alongside other appropriate care. Different treatments serve different purposes, and the right approach depends on your circumstances and preferences. Let your practitioners know about the care you're receiving so they can consider this information when discussing your options.

Do I need a referral?

You can contact KNFChiro directly to ask about booking. Some extended health benefit plans may require a referral, prescription or other documentation for reimbursement, so check with your insurer if you're unsure.
